As Department Chair (1994-2012), I oversaw all Departmental activities including interviewing applicants for adjunct teaching posts; evaluating and mentoring adjunct faculty; scheduling classes; developing curricula; representing the Department on committees; hearing and responding to student complaints; and other duties as required.

I served as co-advisor to the SBVC Veteran’s Club (2015-16); advisor to the student government (1995-98), Political Action Chair for the CTA local (1996-2008), and Academic Senate President (1998-2000).

I received the “Students’ Choice Award, Full-Time Faculty” (1998) and “Outstanding Professor Award” (2012).

As the administrator in charge, I oversaw all Division activities including enrollment management; scheduling of classes; hiring and evaluation of faculty; review and updating of curricula; handling student grievances; representing the Division on college committees; representing SBVC on the District Budget Committee; and other duties as required.

This Division is largest at SBVC.  Besides ten instructional Departments ranging alphabetically from Administration of Justice to Sociology, the Division also includes the Athletics program, consisting of 12 men’s and women’s teams, and the Child Development Center, one of the largest in the County, serving 350 children.
